The Weekly Chase #9

17 Sep

School starting, Girl Scouts starting, Awana starting, a new routine, a new routine, a new routine….unhappykids and unhappy mother.

SO I am forgetting what I have stated I wanted to do so far or what goals I had created. We are starting over as we have few priorities that I am going to be watching out for this week and from that I will make my goals for next week!

My family – I need to make sure that my girls are getting enough sleep and what I can do to make mornings easier. I am so tired of crying kids every morning.  Maybe we need to get an exercise routine in place for them? Like Yoga for some winding down?

Me – I have been feeling really sore and I need to drink more water – I need to make sure I am taken care of too.

Staying In Touch – I feel I need to do a better job of this. I also feel that it isn’t totally up to me – but I can’t complain if I don’t try. I just feel like I am losing out and I am not sure if I am the only one that cares.

Routine – I have to really figure this out….will work still fit in after #3? How do I make everything work now?

Hopefully some look out on this week will provide some good goals for me next week!

Playlist Thursday – Epic

12 Sep

Let’s break out the big songs. The epic ones that will live on forever (good or bad). The anthems, the songs that go down in history as “the song of your generation.”

The rules:

Something Old: Songs that are at least 5 years old. (I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.)
Something Current: Songs that have been released within the past year.
Something to Consider: This is the wild card category. Feel free to list any song: old, current, guilty pleasure, underground, whatever.

Something Old:

Artist: Baz Luhrmann

Title: Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen)

Side Note: This song was really popular when I was in high school – as much as we hated it – it was an anthem we rolled to.

Quotable: “Don’t worry about the future”

Something Current:

Artist: Tim McGraw

Title: If You’re Reading This

Side Note: My husband is military and most of my “family” is too. I can’t hear this song and not cry.  It is the anthem that we never want to play.

Quotable: “I won’t be able to see the birth of our little girl”  This was a legitimate fear I had.

BTW – I am in tears just writing this and I bet you will be too if wait to see the end of the video.

Something to Consider:

Artist:Beyonce

Title: Run the World (Girls!)

Side Note: Yes I have done this one before – but seriously chicks – we rock and we need to just own it!

Quotable: “Who Runs The World? Girls!”

What’s New Wednesday #20 – Virtual Races All Around!

12 Sep

Just wanted to stop in with a quick update to my blues of running. I am not really able to run right now due to being pregnant. I was told to take it easy on the running (like don’t push it – lots of alternating) as I am not a great runner by any means. I still struggle and have since this move up to the frozen tundra of Alaska. I just can’t get it together up here! I am resorting to treadmill walking and switching it up a bit to keep me attentive and actually working something.

To keep my boredom at bay – I am utilizing all the virtual races that are going on to keep me at this! I have already completed the virtual The Great Cupcake Race that was put on by Find Your Happy Place and Running In Sanity to help benefit TNT.  It was both 5K and 10K, but I of course opted to walk the 5K. I am now signed up for their Pumpkin themed race and have my kids also joining me on the  1 Mile portion. They will as well get a medal for doing it!!

Run With Jess has her cupcake race up and going and there is one more I am taking part in. My husband did tell me to find a hobby – so I did!

I hope you all will join me in these races (which I will post links to later), and let me know if you find some more!!

If I were to host one for a charity – who is in???

Girl Problems Solved by Neuma by Hair Care USA

12 Sep

I love to blow dry my hair, but hate to see what happens after I do! I dry my hair twice a day! Once in the morning and then again at lunch after I have worked out!  Let me tell you about some damage that can happen! When I put my hair in a ponytail it looks like my hair is a million different lengths and is dry and damaged – which it most likely – is hello heat?!

I was given two different products by Hair Care USA to try – the Neuma collection’s Blow Dry Lotion and Smoothing Creme.

Pretty good sample size – huh? 🙂

On my hair I tried the Blow Dry Lotion and let me tell you – I didn’t get any photos of the before – but you can tell by my ponytail after that this stuff is awesome. There is no real damage showing so that to shows how good this product is. It instantly smoothes out my hair!

Per their website: Neuma Blow Dry Lotion – The essential companion for your blow dryer – this weightless formula adds hold, manageability and protection to any blow out. Hair feels soft, smooth and with added shine. Featuring a proprietary blend of plant extracts and essential oils, Phyto Colour Complex™ maximizes colour hue, vibrancy and longevity while Phyto UV Shield™, an exclusive blend of plant nutrients, protects colour from UVA & UVB oxidation. Helps prevent damage from styling and hot tools. Humidity resistant formula soothes hair and controls frizz.

Oh yeah – and check out what it contains – good stuff!

Phyto Colour Complex: A gentle, natural surfactant system that removes environmental pollutants, not colour, from hair. Plant extracts restore natural health and shine while maximizing colour retention and extending colour life.

  •  Phyto UV Shield: A proprietary blend of certified organic plant extracts enhance depth of tone, reflectivity and colour vibrancy. Essential oils shield colour from UVA, UVB oxidation and fading.
  • Sunflower Seed Oil: Provides UV protection while adding shine and shielding hair from heat damage.
  • Sage Extract: Soothes and conditions hair.
  • Rose Hips Fruit Extract: Soothes and softens hair.
  • Apricot Kern Oil: Helps smooth cuticle and control flyaways while conditioning and adding shine.
  • Aroma provided by pure essential oils of Lavender, Mandarin Orange, Vanilla – true aromatherapy.

My daughter is always having issues with her hair looking rough and stringy so I used the Smoothing Creme on her hair. I am not able to use these products so much as my hair becomes really greasy really fast. Abby’s hair is perfect for it though!

BEFORE:

You can see the difference in the before and after and I even think with more uses – the better it will look. It is a great start and better than some of the regular drug store options we have tried!!

AFTER

Per their website: Neuma Smoothing Creme – This unique crème locks in moisture and delivers weightless shine while taming frizz and flyaways. Featuring a proprietary blend of plant extracts and essential oils, Phyto Colour Complex™ maximizes colour hue, vibrancy and longevity while Phyto UV Shield™, an exclusive blend of plant nutrients, protects colour from UVA & UVB oxidation. Humidity resistant formula leaves hair silky smooth with a healthy sheen.

Military Strong Bonds Marriage Retreat to Seward, Alaska

11 Sep

So to get out of dodge and for a vacation paid for by the military – we went on a marriage retreat! We had a presentation put on via DVD and Mr Gunger. It was great!! It would only have been better if he was live!!!  Here are some of the views!

This mountain has a marathon run up it and one person was even missing for a bit after the race ended – but was eventually found with an injury.

This picture above was right out our door!

The water in the picture above is a really cool green color becuase it is glacier water 🙂

This was date night with the hubby which was delicious FRESH crab legs and steak 🙂

We always joke that we really need help so we go on all the marriage retreats we can – but in all honesty – the Army pays for us to get to know our spouses better and spend time with the entire family. We will not be part of the high divorce rate of the US Army.
