Sharing Saturday #7

21 Apr

This Saturday is turning out so well. Sarcasm friends.  Nick took Abby to go to the gun range – yes you heard that right. My 4-year-old is going with her daddy to the gun range with his new moose shooting gun.  I decided to take my Starbucks gift card and take Ryley to get an apple juice and cake pop. We get there, we order, we sit down. Ryley proceeds to put the ENTIRE CAKE POP IN HER MOUTH.  Once she realizes this in’t a good idea she spits it out and insists she should have another one. Um. No. Once I tell her this – she starts to cry. So much for a little bit of a rest. The whole way home I hear about how she wants Daddy. This happened last time when each of us took a kid but I had Abby. What am I doing wrong? Oh, that is right…being a responsible loving parent and not giving in.

We go home and she poops out on the couch and it still there and it has been almost 2 hours. I am not waking that child.  She obviously needs some quiet time and I am happy to oblige.  So as I sit here in silence I am starting to realize some things. Not all happiness and so of course I am kind of in a down mood. Writing to you people makes me feel better as I am in a sense “talking” it out.

I miss my friends. I can’t just randomly pick up with Petra and go to Wal-Mart to sit in rocking chairs and people watch.

I miss warm weather. Consistent warm weather at that. I want to be able to wear a tank top outside without 3 layers on top of it to stay warm.

I miss my flip-flops.

I want a running partner. Does anyone want to be my virtual accountability partner?

I am jealous of all my Brick City Running Tribe people who ran in the Outer Banks this weekend, They did awesome and a shout out to Chris Knodel for crossing the finish line first on one of them!

Yup – still trying to find that chance to earn some extra money.

I miss my church family at New Life Praise – the Parks, the Pembletons, the Orums, the Bridges, the Fletchers….literally all of them. They were always so nice and caring. I guess you never realize how much you enjoyed the company of some until they are no longer there.

I have found a friend that I can go to Zumba with at a new location – so I hoping, no – praying, that it is better than the last. Misery loves company as I think she is as much of a fan of this place as me. She also came from Bragg, and worked with my husband in some way, shape, or form.  So in a sense, she is already family in the military world.

I am watching Shake It Up (yes I realize I can change the channel since Ryley is asleep, but it is like Murphy’s Law – the moment I turn it she wakes up) – anyways, white girls can’t dance and I think this show is annoying.

I need to get my hair cut and I think I am just going to do it this week. I have been saying this for months now and I am just going to do it. I would like to color it, not sure if I want more highlights or one color.  I must say  thought I am thankful I can still do this (Sorry Martha!)

I am going back to school. I think I might try Psychology. I can take them at a MAJOR discount ($55 a semester) and I might as well take advantage! I am excited and scared at the same time, and all in a good way.

I am starting back up the “Rule of 3” – will explain in a soon to come post.

I want a pair of boots that come to my knee. Who wants to buy them for me?

I want green grass again.

I miss the race track – badly.

So – that is enough for now. Time to get ready for my girl Emma Lynn to come over so her mom can run errands. She makes me smile. I need to smile 🙂

Spring Break #3, #5, #9, #11, and #14

14 Mar

This is starting to be something I could get used to. I may have to save vacation and do this again in the fall 🙂

#3 – Sit at a coffee shop and read.  Starbucks has never been so inviting! No kids and two good magazines to search through to find some motivation.  I was in heaven with my carmel cappuccino and girly advice columns.

#5 Clean the house – the upstairs looks great – now to vacuum the master and I will be good 🙂

#9 Get an account at the Anchorage Library – done!

#11 – Watch girlie movies – Evita yesterday, Dumbo with the girls (Actually only part of it as they didn’t like it after Nick called it dumb). Currently It is 6:25 in the morning and I am watching Burlesque.  Nick made the statement yesterday that he is so glad I am doing this without him 🙂

#14 Read a book or two – I am reading a couple of books actually and hope to have a couple finished today!

This was my yesterday – so awesome. Today I am home with the girls as we visit the dentist today and it will be Ryley’s first visit! Some more girlie movies, reading and shopping is on the way!!!

Sharing Saturday #5

18 Feb

Not much to share today except for a list of thoughts I have kept all week – just for you!

1. The Bud Shootout is today – I am so excited!

2. I found out Dale Jr has a girlfriend – kind of a bummer – but I hope it turns out good for him. He deserves to find happiness – unlike what happened between Kurt and Eva Bush. Gold digger might I say?

3. So excited that Delana and Kevin Harvick are going to have a baby.  We need another Happy Harvick.  She will not be wearing a fire suit this year, but I think a pregnancy version would be super cute!  Joey Logano will need a new statement to think of in case of another fight.

4. I am also excited to have the Stanhope’s to watch races with! They are good people!

5. I miss nights at Fayetteville with the dirt cars. A single tear just dropped.  Enough race talk 🙂

6. An unforeseen opportunity has presented itself and has progressed to one more step. I am excited to see what this is about. It could mean really good things – please pray for me on Thursday.

7. I am really enjoying my time reading! I am glad I decided to pick up a book and get back into the habit. Any really good reads you want to share? Find me on Goodreads.com – I love it!

8. Ryley turns 3 on March 7th. My baby is growing up.  Curious George will be the theme this year.

9. I love the animated movie Curious George.

10. We are being challenged to move 100 miles by April 25th at work.  I have only walked and done organized fitness classes last week.  I have 20 miles. I will be running full-time again next week as my first 5K is coming up. I should hit 100 miles by early March. I love free stuff so why not let it help motivate me!

11. We were challenged to also take 10,000 stair steps by next Thursday. I am all about getting my bonus miles by completing this challenge so I am going to the mall tomorrow and will be taking steps every chance I can!  I will make 10,000 stairs, even if I have to do nothing but walk stairs for 10 minutes a day.

12. I get to babysit a super cute girl named Emma every Saturday. She makes me smile.

13. I need a new hairstyle. Any ideas or color ideas?

14. Daytona 500 is next weekend. Okay, now there has been enough race talk.

15. Our taxes are done thank goodness – too bad the refund is almost gone too and we don’t have it yet.

16. I have not had coffee or soda this week. Or my normal 3:00 butterfingers. Go me.

17. I have been a little cranky this week – I wonder why? Refer to #16.

18. I have given up on crafting. My mojo is not there anymore. I have still yet to find it. I threw some stuff together last month but that was what it was. Thrown together. I don’t like creating that way. I will wait until the mojo comes back so I don’t hate what I create and then hate it in general.

19. I found out this week that chickens (including Roosters) can bring peace. I think I will now look for a chicken and/or rooster charm for my pandora bracelet.

20. Nick has a 4 day weekend.  I do not. I do get Spring Break off though – so take that!
