Military Strong Bonds Marriage Retreat to Seward, Alaska

11 Sep

So to get out of dodge and for a vacation paid for by the military – we went on a marriage retreat! We had a presentation put on via DVD and Mr Gunger. It was great!! It would only have been better if he was live!!!  Here are some of the views!

This mountain has a marathon run up it and one person was even missing for a bit after the race ended – but was eventually found with an injury.

This picture above was right out our door!

The water in the picture above is a really cool green color becuase it is glacier water 🙂

This was date night with the hubby which was delicious FRESH crab legs and steak 🙂

We always joke that we really need help so we go on all the marriage retreats we can – but in all honesty – the Army pays for us to get to know our spouses better and spend time with the entire family. We will not be part of the high divorce rate of the US Army.

Playlist Thursday – Most Appearances

29 Aug

We are creatures of habit and when we find an artist that we like, chances are they make a repeat appearance on the playlist. What artist appears the most on your playlist? We can bend the rules a bit, list one of their oldest and one of their newest ON YOUR PLAYLIST and let the “consider” be a random song or your favorite.

**Is anyone else having problems linking YouTube???**

Rules:

Something Old: Songs that are at least 5 years old. (I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.)
Something Current: Songs that have been released within the past year.
Something to Consider: This is the wild card category. Feel free to list any song: old, current, guilty pleasure, underground, whatever.

Something Old:

Artist: Queen & David Bowie

Title: Under Pressure

Side Note: I worked at a friend’s bowling ally for extra cash and they had a jukebox with great tunes like this one and it has been on my iPod ever since Day 1!

Quotable: ” It’s the terror or knowing what this world is about”

Something Current:

Artist: Timbaland & Justin Timberlake

Title: Carry Out

Side Note: I used to sing this song outloud, at the top of mylungs, my running with my BCRT family. They loved it just as much as I did.  Singing is how I keep ym breath normal while running is my excuse 🙂

Quotable: “Number one, I’ll take two number threes – Thats a whole out of you and a side of me”

Something To Consider:

What’s New Wednesday #19

29 Aug

Holy Late Balls!

I am so behind this week – mainly becuase I started school and my kids are in week two and I actually have to get my butt in gear!  I think next week it will be even more of a wake up when Nick goes back to work from being on vacation! AHH!

So what is new you might ask….SCHOOL & MORE!

I am jumping back into school and today I start Intro To Psych and I am so excited! I have been looking into a couple new paths I want to take and am going to take a look at these paths until I either realize it isn’t what I want to do or it is what I want to do! i figure I will never know until I really dive in!

#1 – Yoga is starting to really come back into my mind all the time…

#2 – CrossFit is continually coming into my brain as I am a competitive person and I think being only able to do modified will help me be ready for when the time comes that I can dive right in! Form is everything and I believe that these modifications will allow this!

#3 – Military Youth – I really want to dive into helping youth in the military that are dealing with deployments and moves. I know my family really had to deal with this moving from North Carolina to Alaska.  I want to make sure that these kids have an outlet and a positive one at that. With the psych classes and even fitness I want to show them they can see positive in it all.

#4 – Personal Trainers Certification – Must Get

#5 – Yoga Certification – Think I want to get!

Wow – that is today.

Please don’t forget that there is a giveaway going on still – jsut check it out HERE

Totally Not As I Planned

14 Aug

Hey guys – today was supposed to be about something else – but I am just not feeling it today. Have you ever had those days? I am feeling really distracted and honestly it is only 6:20 am. I am not quite sure what it is – but something has to change. I am not talking like my eating, my exercise, my motivation…….it is what I do that needs to change. I am not going into detail as that is never okay.

I am on the starting point of Team Beach Body and I love the motivation and encouragement being a coach brings. I love to push people to be their best, but also be there to sit and listen when they need it. I love the programs that are offered as there is one for everyone – you just have to find it!  Shakeology is a product that can taken while pregnant – hello – how awesome is that? It tells me that product is okay for my family to be ingesting.

I am trying to find my brand. I am a mom who loves her kids and wants to encourage them to the best they can be. I am a mom-to-be who is excited to add another to our family, but not quite sure how to continue forward. Do I still work with the minimal amount of money that will actually be brought home? Or do we give up lots of things to make it work with me at home?

I guess this is the time to “shit or get off the pot” – I need to make dreams reality. I know I have posted about this in passing in the past. After a couple conversations yesterday – I really think I need to get this going. I cannot do anything without doing something.

I need some help or advice on where to go or what to do…I am open for comments!!!

Questions:

What have you done in tough decisions – get to it, nothing?

What did you do to get going?

Freelance work….how do you get started?

Moms – what do you do to make it work?

The Weekly Chase – Week #4

30 Jul

So this last week was not so stellar – my mojo up and got gone. I think this weather that is gloomy and rainy really affects me more than I know and I have to figure out a better way to combat this. I mean that sincerely!

#1 – 100 Mile Challenge – um yeah – I have decided to drop this as my running is just not happening in this rainy weather right now and when I do get a nice day we have other this we have to get done. I hate being a quitter – but I quit this one!

#2 – Plank-A-Day – my goal was 3 minutes and I came up a little shy (by 30 seconds) but I am not giving up that easy on this one!

#3 – Facebook C Diet – Yeah my diet sucks if I didn’t already know this – but I am more conscious! I must also say that I have now discovered a love for Chobani and it includes eating it up to 3 times a day – I seriously love this stuff with some granola…heaven!

#4 – Clean out my craft closet – This didn’t happen – plain and simple.

#5 – Team Beach Body – I met with my awesome upline Carin and we seem to have the same style so I am looking forward to building this up!

#6 – Operation Beautiful – I did my first post-it and it was very exciting!

Okay – so really not that fantastic – but I think I just need some different things to go for to clear my head – so here goes nothing~

#1 – Operation Beautiful – I am going to make this one a higher priority – I need to feel good by doing good – since this weather is just plain sucky.

#2 – Plank-A-Day – I WILL get 3 minutes – it will not escape me this week!

#3 – Read the Girls A Bed Time Story Every Night – school is starting for my oldest soon and I just feel it is important. My dad and mom used to read to us and I really think that instilled a love of reading to this day.

#4 – Team Beach Body – Get my goals set this week and get a game plan!

#5 – Research Vitamins – I had asked our dear friend Kelly over at GNC about vitamins and such…I need to help myself some by getting on a routine of vitmains….I need to really research this and get it started. I want to take a look at some other companies as well…

SO there is it…A little different start for my goals to give my mind a rest from being anxious over running.

Questions – What vitamins/supplements do you take and why?

What’s New Wednesday #14

25 Jul

So….What’s New? SO MANY THINGS!!!  Some are a bit random today and some are so fun! I am having a great day and am really excited about the opportunities I am involved in and I have been all smiles!

I am reading a book right now and will provide a full review in the next week – it is titled Mission Possible and let me tell you it is an eye opener! It is about schools, the education system, standards, and getting it done. I was surprised by how engrossed in this read I have become. I am needless to say – looking at education so much differently and how I can help my own child!

Abby got accepted into Anchorage Christian School and will be attending kindergarten beginning August 20th! We have to buy her uniform and go to an interview next week! I am excited and scared all at the same time as my first-born is growing up but there is so much that will make her grow into this awesome little person she is already becoming!

Operation Beautiful is something I came across and am having so much fun with this! Their mission is simply this: “The goal of the Operation Beautiful website is to end negative self-talk or “Fat Talk.”  If this little blog only does one productive thing, I hope it helps readers realize how truly toxic negative self-talk is  — it hurts you emotionally, spiritually, and physically.” With all the negative self-talk in thus world I am doing everything to make sure my kids know they are beautiful and everyone around them as well. It takes no time – just some love!

Team Beach Body Coach – yup that is me! I am getting some ground information right now and will announce my grand start shortly – I am so excited to be a part of a company that puts coaching and motivation as their focus and not just a product or gimmick. They want people to get healthy and be healthy – I LOVE IT!

I am hosting a Scentsy Party to re-start my business (I love to be busy can you tell?) Please check out my website and order from the Jump Start Party – This is going to be a way for me to get some added income to help out the cost of Abby’s school tuition!

Facebook C Diet – I just started this and it already is an eye opener! I wanted to learn some healthier ways to eat and get introduced to new things – and you take a picture of everything you eat….wow do I eat bad…I am more conscious than ever that I eat bad. I thought I just ate okay – but, um, no. I am really bad and I am half embarrassed. Now I know why I can’t ever meet all my goals – I love food way to much! But Stefan is going to help me get it taken care of! Well – I have always really known…

I am learning to laugh and play more with my kids. I think watching my parents enjoy their two days in Alaska with the kids more than I have in the last couple days made me realize I need to cherish this time more than I have lately. I need to love them, laugh with them, play with them, and take them for a walk when they ask, and let them ride bikes when they ask, and such. I have found myself to be in a better mood from this and I really think that it is what I have been needing!

I have a phone consult with a run coach today – I need to get over my hump of hating running and set some goals! I am excited for this as I think having someone here who can hold me accountable and be waiting on me will be helpful. Something about having a body here to push me helps me. I think it is from being a gymnast for so long and the individual attention I was given at all times…who knows 🙂

Lots of new goodness going on…looking for my any and all August challenges that are going to be hosted!!!!

Also – the next 10 people who leave me a comment after they have emailed me their address(mollyritterbeck@gmail.com) will get a surprise mailed to them – just because I love you guys!

What’s New Wednesday #13 – My Parents Are Coming!!!!

18 Jul

I am so excited to tell you all that my parents are coming to Alaska! They get in tonight at 7:15 and I can’t wait to pick them up! There is nothing more exciting than seeing the excitement in my little girls eyes when we talk about it. They even have little calendars that they are checking off the days until the get here!  I never thought I would be as excited as I am! Living in North Carolina I think I took for granted that they were just a days worth of driving away. Now that they are over 4,500 miles away I wish I could just pop over to see them.

Don’t ever take the simple things for granted people…

The Weekly Chase – Week 2

16 Jul

Man I am loving have weekly goals instead of monthly – I think it really helps keep things attainable!

Here is a recap of last week:

Goal #1 – Get all my bio’s written for a couple different groups I am in. ****I got one of them done. Sad I know…but I will be adding this to the loop this week!****

Goal #2 – Purge my closet.  ****Done. Not much to purge after all as I realized most of the stuff was just coats making my closet look big. I guess I should have put them in the hall closet from the beginning!****

Goal #3 – Plank A Day challenge. ****I did great! I did not get it in on Wednesday as that is softball and I expected that and Saturday just got away from me. I am pleased as I did do a 2:02 plank!****

Goal #4 – Figure out what new fitness class I will take and get signed up by Friday!****I was going to take a Barre class this Thursday at 6:45, but my parents are coming into town! I do have the schedule so I am more likely going to go next week after they leave****

Goal #5 – Sit down and make the pending opportunity I have a reality.****Not going to happen for another couple of months but I am okay with this!****

This weeks goals:

Goal #1 – Get my house ready for the parents visit! They come in on Wednesday and I want to have the house looking better than it is now. This is another perfect opportunity to get rid of some stuff and maybe make some cash doing it!

Goal #2 – Enjoy my parent’s visit! I took off work Thursday and Friday so that I can enjoy the time. I don’t ever take time off of work. I am sickly too dedicated to my job.

Goal #3 – 100 Mile Challenge – This will be updated in another post this week with more details – but I will be taking part in completing 100 miles between July 15 and August 15 – and gosh darn it I can’t wait! I will be starting it probably today or tomorrow just depending on how much of the house I can get clean!

Goal #4 – Plank-A-Day Challenge – Still doing it and still loving it!

Goal #5 – Finish getting my bios done!

Goal #6 – Get a routine so I can get into the CrossFit gym!

What do you have going on??

WANTED: Cute, Sleek, Warm Workout Gear for Alaska!

10 Jul

Wanted – Cute, sleek, warm workout gear to keep this active girl warm yet still cute in the weather of Alaska – can you help direct me to that place?

I am looking for a place with affordable, cute workout gear! I am stuck here in a place where online is my best friend – IF they ship to Alaska. I have found that there is plenty of warm weather outdoor gear – but not all of it is conducive to running and being active!

Typical temperature around here is seeming in the 50-low 60 range (nothing past 61 from what I can tell!) and I have clothes for 80 degree and higher weather. I know that cotton is not what I want – so that is where I will begin!

I want sleek and light weight because obviously I don’t want to be  weighed down!  Nothing bulky, but room for keys, pepper spray, and a phone. I want to be warm and not worry about over heating. Can I have pants that will keep me warm but not make me look obscene in the crotch region?

Something other than white, black, or gray would be fantastic since those are the three colors most found up here. White goes for fresh snow, gray goes for the 2-3 day old snow, and black for week old snow 🙂

If you can help me find a place that will ship to Alaska, have cute and functional purpose, keep me warm and cute colors – Please let me know!!!
